“I started training with Harry at the age of 17. At this time I was slightly strugglingAlice Kent competing at The Festival of British Eventing Intermediate Championships with the whole concept of eventing and what it really took. With his guidance and teaching, he instilled the confidence in me to compete up to 2*, something I never would have believed possible. He is an incredibly patient teacher, with a great empathy for both horse and rider. His methods and insight belie his age, as he has the ability to instill both the basics, alongside the more advanced concepts. However, as well as excellent training, Harry is also brilliant at encouraging one up the ranks of eventing, knowing when is appropriate to push and when further training is needed, an invaluable trait in the teaching of the event horse and rider. Since training with him, I have really begun to understand what is required of an eventer, all the way from fitness regimes, preparation for a three day, greater knowledge on the flat and over jumps, as well as insisting he accompanies me around the XC course every time I move up a level!”  Alice Kent – 22 years old Advanced Event Rider.

Rachel at Hickstead 2011“First and foremost, lessons with Harry are great fun. The improvement in my jumping over the last 9 months has been vast. My horse and I have gained confidence, and with Harry’s help, are flying over show jumps and cross country fences. I look forward to every lesson as we improve our weaknesses in new and different ways and I finish every lesson with a sense of achievement. I enjoy being taught by someone close to my own age and, above all, Harry is a brilliant and inspirational teacher.” Rachel Scanlan – 16 years old competes at Pony Club level and is also a very keen hunter.

‘We first invited Harry to teach for Petersfield Pony Club because he had been a member of our branch.  He has taught for us at a variety of events across the disciplines for the last year, including an intensive week at Senior Camp last summer.  He is an inspiring and engaging instructor, achieving great results and is a great favourite with our members. We look forward to continuing to work with him in the future!’ Kate Inskip – DC of the Petersfield Pony Club
